Family Lawyers Case Study

Industry: Family & Commercial Law

Location: Townsville, QLD

Services: AI Optimisation (AIO), Local SEO, Website, Content Strategy, GBP Optimisation, Paid Ads, Reputation Signals

The Challenge

Multi-service law firms face a unique visibility problem. Unlike a single-service trade business, this firm needed to be discoverable across an entire spread of distinct legal specialties, family law, commercial law, conveyancing, probate, estate planning and workplace matters, each with its own search intent, its own competitors, and its own customer questions.

Spreading marketing effort thinly across every service area risked strong visibility nowhere. At the same time, legal services enquiries were increasingly starting inside AI platforms rather than Google, with prospective clients asking conversational questions like "who's a good family lawyer near me" rather than searching keywords. If the firm's content wasn't structured for AI to interpret and trust, it risked losing exactly the high-intent enquiries that traditional SEO alone couldn't capture.

What We Did

We treated each practice area as its own mini-campaign rather than a single blanket strategy. Dedicated, in-depth content was built out for probate, commercial law, family law, conveyancing and estate planning, each answering the specific questions real clients ask, structured clearly enough for AI platforms to associate the firm with genuine expertise in that area, rather than a generic "law firm" listing.

We also strengthened the firm's backlink profile and technical SEO foundations, recognising that authority signals matter just as much to AI platforms assessing trustworthiness as they do to traditional Google rankings.

The Results (6 Months)

The results showed up first in AI-specific channels. The firm went from having zero keywords ranking #1 on ChatGPT to seven, a clear signal that its content was now being recognised and trusted by AI systems evaluating legal expertise.

Individual service pages saw substantial ranking gains: probate Townsville climbed 47 positions, commercial lawyer Townsville climbed 23 positions, and family lawyers Townsville climbed 13 positions. Domain Authority rose from 22 to 25, supported by 61 new linking domains and 91 new linking pages, tangible evidence of growing industry authority.

The firm also began appearing in Google AI Overviews for both branded searches and specific service terms like "family lawyer townsville". Overall, the site grew to 954 clicks and 202,600 impressions across its tracked keyword set, with 55 pages now indexed and available for both Google and AI platforms to draw from.

The Takeaway

Professional services firms with multiple specialties don't need to choose between broad coverage and deep authority. By building deep AI-structured content practice area by practice area, this firm secured meaningful, measurable visibility gains across its entire range of services, not just its highest-traffic keyword.
